About

Dr. Sue Ellen Cox is a board-certified dermatologic surgeon and the founding Medical Director and President of Aesthetic Solutions in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. A Cum Laude graduate of New York University, she earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Cox completed her Residency in Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where she served as co-chief resident. An active Fellow, member, and lecturer for several organizations; including The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, The American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society of Lasers in Medicine, Dr. Cox is internationally recognized for her expertise in cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Cox specializes in facial rejuvenation using lasers, injectable fillers and neuromodulators. She is known as an expert in tumescent liposuction and body contouring, and leads an active clinical research center. As principal investigator, Dr. Cox helped facilitate FDA-approval for many popular injectables, and several tissue tightening and body contouring technologies.

Dr. Cox serves as a feature editor for the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery, and has authored or co-authored more than eighty peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Cox lectures internationally, teaching technique and sharing experience in now more than 125 lectures and presentations. Dr. Cox serves on various committees and boards with the ASDS and the American Board of Dermatology, directs workshops at annual meetings for both organizations, and serves as an advisory board member for numerous pharmaceutical and device manufacturers. Dr. Cox also teaches cosmetic dermatology clinic to second and third year residents at the UNC School of Medicine and Duke University Medical Center, where she serves as Adjunct Associate Professor and Consulting Associate Professor, respectively.

When she’s not working, Dr. Cox is an avid swimmer and yogi, who enjoys traveling to culturally-diverse lands. She’s most proud of her three children, and happily walks her gentle border-doodle, Zoe, during breaks in clinic.
