Four-day gathering of dermatology and plastic surgery’s brightest anchored by exceptional curriculum
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 2018 South Beach Symposium (SBS) will kick off March 1-4 at the oceanfront Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. under the direction of Mark S. Nestor, M.D., Ph.D., symposium chair and director of the Center for Cosmetic Enhancement and the Center for Clinical and Cosmetic Research.
Nestor is joined by an impressive cast of dermatology and plastic surgery thought leaders including planning committee members Brian Berman, M.D., Ph.D.; Michael H. Gold, M.D.; David J. Goldberg, M.D., J.D.; Leon Kircik, M.D.; and Z. Paul Lorenc, M.D.
Now celebrating its 16th year, SBS will feature live demonstration workshops of minimally invasive aesthetic treatments with injectables and devices providing attendees with new skills and techniques that can easily be adapted to their current practice. The conference will kick off on Thursday, March 1 with a superficial radiation therapy for dermatology course and the Masters of Pediatric Dermatology Symposium. The event will also feature a “Futures Symposium: Innovations in Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology” session that will showcase new products in the pipeline, various innovations coming to market and how physicians can incorporate these products and treatments into their practice.
Lawrence Schachner, M.D., professor of pediatrics and co-director of the division of pediatric dermatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, will lead a star-studded faculty lineup for the Masters of Pediatric Dermatology Symposium. Among the world-class lineup is Lawrence F. Eichenfield, M.D., chief of pediatric and adolescent dermatology at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. Eichenfield will provide expert insight on pediatric skin infections and rashes as well as an update on current and emerging therapeutic options for pediatric atopic dermatitis.
SBS will also host a panel of the most influential industry executives on Saturday, March 3 as they share their insight on the importance of innovation in clinical and aesthetic dermatology in an era of healthcare upheaval. Guest panelists include Neal Walker, D.O., president and CEO of Aclaris Pharmaceuticals; Mark Miller, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Birch Biomed; Tom Wiggans, CEO of Dermira; Ann Smith, president and CEO of Ferndale Healthcare; Bob Rhatigan, president and CEO of Merz North America; Joseph Sardano, CEO of Sensus Healthcare; Doug Abel, president of Sinclair US; and Preston Romm, president and CEO of Suneva.
