2019 South Beach Symposium - CME Information

Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of physicians, nurses, and professional staff members of medical practices involved in the treatment of patients in dermatology, pediatric dermatology, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery and other dermatologic medical procedures.

Statement of Need/Program Overview

The South Beach Symposium is a four-day educational event delivering content on the newest therapies, technologies, procedures, and practice guidelines for physicians and practitioners in the field of clinical and aesthetic dermatology. SBS features highly interactive lectures and panel discussion presentations as well as live patient demonstrations of minimally invasive aesthetic treatments with injectables and devices. Now celebrating its 15th year, the 2017 South Beach Symposium will provide attendees with transferable skills and techniques that can easily be adapted to their current practice environment. As an attendee, we guarantee you will gain clinical pearls and techniques from SBS expert faculty that will change the way you practice and care for your patients.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:


  1. Select the appropriate therapies for patients with acne, including when to utilize combination oral and topical therapeutic agents and other treatment modalities.
  2. Identify approaches to increasing individualized treatment in practice and improving patient-clinician communication to optimize outcomes in acne management.
  3. Identify and assess current and emerging therapies and their role in treating psoriasis.
  4. Incorporate methods for improving patient-clinician communication regarding psoriasis management.
  5. Demonstrate increased proficiency in the management of potentially malignant skin lesions based on available clinical evidence.
  6. Use current guidelines when diagnosing and treating skin cancers, particularly melanoma.
  7. Understand the mechanisms of action, safety, and efficacy of treatment options for Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria, acute eczematous dermatitis, and Atopic Dermatitis.
  8. Acknowledge onychomycosis as a medical problem that should be treated.
  9. Identify the benefits of early diagnosis of onychomycosis and understand the currently available as well as emerging oral and topical therapies to treat various patient populations.
  10. Review basic dermatologic surgery techniques and surgical wound management.
  11. Identify current available guidelines in clinical dermatology practice areas and apply those guidelines in practice in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes.


  1. Implement strategies to prevent and treat complications stemming from a variety of aesthetic procedures.
  2. Demonstrate advanced techniques in the use and application of various neurotoxins and dermal fillers.
  3. Compare and contrast the latest advanced techniques in lasers, light and radiofrequency devices.
  4. Implement the latest advances in photodynamic therapy.


  1. Identify the rules, regulations, practice management techniques and business information necessary for a successful medical practice.
  2. List risk management strategies for reducing the frequency and severity of malpractice claims.
  3. Recognize common and important skin disorders in African-American infants, children, and adolescents.


  1. Identify the preferred form of therapy for psoriasis and other skin disorders in children.
  2. Choose appropriate therapies for hair growth issues in children.
  3. Review the available systemic therapies available for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in children.
  4. Identify practical and effective ways to improve tolerability of topical and systemic treatments of acne in adolescents.

Instructions to Receive Credit

Attendees will be sent a claim credit email to the email address used for the symposium registration. The initial email will be sent from eval@conexsys.com on February 13th, 2017. It is recommended that you add this email address to your contacts list, so it will bypass your filters.  Credit must be claimed within four weeks of the meeting, or by Sunday, March 19, 2017.

Fee Information & Refund/cancellation Policy

SBS will offer a 100% refund within 72 hours from time of purchase less applicable credit card processing fee. After 72 hours refunds will be less 50%. All refunds must be made in writing and post marked or tax stamped no later than 90 days before the event. No refund will be made if the request is made within 90 days of the educational event. Refunds will not be issued to non-show registrants. Substitutions are always welcome in lieu of cancellation for a $100.00 transit fee. No transfers to alternate events will be made if the request is submitted within 90 days of the original event.
