This presentation will present you with the information you need to know about the role of newborn and infant skincare in promoting important short-term and long-term health benefits to your patients. The skin of an infant is still undergoing maturation during the first days, weeks, months and early years of life.
Appropriate skin care can help this maturation in barrier function and structure, decrease skin sensitivity and potentially halt the atopic march towards systemic allergic disease. We will discuss the barrier maturation and function of babies skin, simple but effective care, as well as potential transcutaneous toxicities to avoid.
