The annual Master's of Pediatric Dermatology Symposium (MOPD) is a one-day session, held prior to each year's South Beach Symposium. The MOPD Symposium was initially developed to promote and advance education surrounding skin diseases & disorders in pediatric age groups, and to foster an exchange of information between physicians and health professionals interested in the field of pediatric dermatology.

This year's MOPD Symposium will allow attendees to learn the latest treatment approaches, protocols, procedures, and tools needed to support children with dermatologic conditions, and ultimately provide better, more personalized care for this specific population of younger patients.

Insect Protection

  • Review insect-borne illnesses and the need for adequate protection.
  • Explain the proper approach for using sunscreen and insect repellent simultaneously.
  • Identify the most effective ingredients and concentrations for adequate protection from insects.

Symposium Chair

Lawrence A. Schachner, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Dermatology, Professor of Pediatrics, and Co-Director of the Division of Pediatric Dermatology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He is also a Chair Emeritus at Stiefel Laboratories.
