Dr. Tosti is the Fredric Brandt Endowed Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She is recognized worldwide as an expert on hair and nail disorders and contact dermatitis, and has authored of over 700 scientific publications on these topics. Dr. Tosti is an invited lecturer at major international conferences.
Dr. Tosti is a founding member and past president of both the European Hair Research Society and the European Nail Society. She is also past president and board member of the Council of Nail Disorders. She is editor of four texts on diagnosing and treating hair disorders, and three texts on nail disorders. She is the author of "Dermoscopy of Hair and Nails," the first hair and nail atlas on dermoscopy ever published.
A hair disorder described by Dr. Tosti is often referred to as "Tosti alopecia." Her contributions to knowledge about nails include research about videodermoscopy of the hyponychium and the nail plate.
