November 7, 2022, is the second annual National Retinol Day. It was founded in 2021 by RoC Skincare in recognition of the 25th anniversary of their discovery of stabilizing retinol for use in skincare products.
Retinol is one of the most popular anti-aging skincare ingredients on the market today. Widely considered the gold-standard ingredient in skincare products, retinol helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and increases collagen production. For years it has been a go-to product for graceful aging.
In a recent press release, Fernando Acosta, CEO of RoC Skincare stated,
"At RoC, we're passionate about retinol, an ingredient we've dedicated nearly three decades to researching and utilizing to develop breakthrough skincare solutions. After conducting more than 100 clinical studies and having published multiple patents on retinol technology, we truly understand its benefits and believe it's worth celebrating - on National Retinol Day and every day."
To mark National Retinol Day, many skincare brands offer deals on their retinol products while dermatologists and beauty experts take to social media to discuss retinol, its benefits, side effects and to raise awareness in general.
It is important that as providers, we remind patients that as with any other skincare product, they are always advised to speak with their dermatologist before committing to any skincare routine. Although retinol is a favorite due to its many anti-aging benefits, it is not a one-size-fits-all product and we can help them decide what is best for their skin.
Experts like you are encouraged to join in the discussion about retinol today since it’s a great opportunity to educate your patients and followers about retinol, its uses, benefits, how it should be used and when not to use it.
