Andrew F. Alexis, MD, MPH, was recently honored at the second annual Fleur De Cure event in New York City. This special gathering, organized by the National Psoriasis Foundation and Greater New York’s psoriatic disease community, takes place each year with the aim of raising funds and awareness in support of all those living with psoriasis.

Andrew F. Alexis, MD. MPH

Dr. Alexis currently serves as the vice-chair for Diversity and Inclusion at the Department of Dermatology and professor of clinical dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He is also the former chair of the Department of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West. He also served as director of the first-of-its-kind Skin of Color Center where he helped advance patient care, research, and education of dermatologic disorders prevalent in populations with skin of color.

Along with his current position of president of the Skin of Color Society and forming part of the Board of the Scarring Alopecia Foundation, Dr. Alexis has held several other leadership positions in professional organizations. This includes being past president of the New York Dermatological Society, past president of the New York Academy of Medicine Dermatology Section, secretary/treasurer of the Skin of Color Society, and chair of the Diversity Task Force Committee for the American Academy of Dermatology.

Due to his passion, experience, and wealth of expertise, Dr. Alexis is a highly sought-after figure and regularly invited to speak at both national and international conferences, including our own South Beach Symposium (SBS).

With over 100 peer-reviewed articles and appearance on several television news programs, and leading publications, it is no surprise he is listed in Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors ™ and Super Doctors®.

As a regular speaker at SBS, we are proud to offer our own congratulations to Dr. Alexis and wish to take this opportunity to thank him for his continued dedication and invaluable contributions to the field of dermatology.
