Derm Appeal Blog

At LivDerm, we are always encouraged and inspired by organizations working to make a meaningful impact in dermatology. Their time, dedication, and unwavering commitment are what drive this industry forward — and we’re proud to spotlight one such organization, Global Parents for Eczema Research (GPER). This nonprofit is dedicated to improving outcomes for children living with eczema, while supporting families and caregivers every step of the way.

Driven by a global community of parents, caregivers, and advocates, GPER is focused on advancing research, raising awareness, and ensuring that the patient voice plays a central role in shaping the future of care. Their work helps bring greater visibility to the challenges faced by families while also supporting efforts to accelerate innovation and drive meaningful progress in pediatric dermatology.

Eczema is more than just a skin condition — it can significantly affect a child’s quality of life. From sleep disruption to persistent itching and discomfort, navigating the condition can become overwhelming for everyone involved. Many patients and their families face ongoing physical and emotional challenges and require both medical care and community support. Organizations like GPER play a vital role in bridging these gaps by advocating for patients and their families, supporting research, and amplifying the voices of those directly affected.

As part of their ongoing mission, GPER is hosting their Walk-A-Marathon Step Challenge this April — a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign that brings together families, teams, and communities in support of pediatric eczema research. Working toward a collective goal of 2 million steps, participants are encouraged to track their activity and help raise both awareness and funds for this important cause.

Initiatives like this not only support critical research efforts but also foster a sense of connection and community among those impacted by eczema.
